Dos & Don'ts

GENERAL RUBBISH

The following items cannot be put in our general rubbish bins:
Oil, oil filters, oil containers, grease tins, paint tins, spent paint
brushes, resin containers, sealant tubes, fluorescent tubes, electrical items,
batteries of any sort, metal, gas bottles and fire extinguishers.

If these bins become contaminated and the company is fined as a result,this will be passed on by the way of CHARGES
to all users.

HAZARDOUS WASTE

We have facilities to collect:
waste oil,
paint,
paint tins
and lead acid batteries
only.

If you require access please ask a member of Deacons staff.
Flares must be taken to the coastguard, by prior arrangement.

BOAT MAINTENANCE

Our terms and conditions state that only minor maintenance work can be carried out on your vessel unless authorisation is given by Deacons Boatyard Ltd.

The following activities affect other vessels in the yard, therefore precautions need to be considered prior to undertaking this work. Please consult with Deacons to arrange this.

Examples of major work are:
- Removing old antifoul
- Sanding/scraping hulls/decks
- Unstepping masts
- Removing engines
- Removing rudders

CONTRACTORS

If you employ any contractor to work on your vessel whilst in our yard, with the exception of on-site contractors,
they must report to Deacons reception with evidence of public liability insurance. You are responsible for their actions whilst in the yard.
 

ACCESS TO BOATS ASHORE

It is the owner’s responsiblity to board the vessel using the correct equipment and taking all reasonable precautions.
If access around the vessel is limited and you require more space, please inform the office.
Anyone accessing boats ashore or afloat do so at their own risk.

CRADLES & SHORES

It is unsafe to:
- Secure anything to the
cradles or shores
- Move cradle arms, shores or bracing

If you need these moved ask a member of staff, it’s not a problem!

Please keep the area under your vessel clear from rubbish. High tides can wash it away, polluting the river and creating hazards to other mariners. Further more, it makes the yard look untidy!

CHILDREN

Children must be under adult supervision at all times and should wear life jackets on the pontoons and ferry.

DOGS

You are welcome to bring your dog to the yard, however dogs SHOULD BE KEPT ON A LEAD AT ALL TIMES and any mess picked up.

CARS

5MPH SPEED LIMIT
Please be aware of pedestrians when driving through the yard.

Do not park in such a way that will
obstruct other vehicles or hinder boat movements. Vehicles doing so will be towed out of the way.
Deacons will not be held responsible for any damage caused by towing.
